What Do YOU Want for Christmas? (2012 Christmas Round-Up)

Hey guys!
What can I say? I've been looking through some games for you guys and you expect me to post every day? Well today is the day that they say the world will end, but I say that's bull! If the world does end though, might as well round-up the gaming year! Today on the blog, we're looking at Wonderbook: Book of Spells, on the PS3, and we take a look at some iOS games! We'll be looking also at some new segments today, and maybe some of these games today will be on your Christmas wish-list!

Guess the Game!
So gamers, try and guess the game for next week on the show on the New Year's special reveal! Try and guess what game is there on the post right next to this segment. Want a hint? Here's one!
HINT: This game uses soft-body physics.
Hope that information was good for you!

Now, time for the review of an iOS game!

Review: iOS Shooters
The Respawnables is a brand new FPS that is perfect for some 12 year olds to play with. Created by Zynga, The Respawnables is available on the iOS scene and I've been screwing around with some grenades on it like crazy! The best thing about it is it's free! There are a few problems with the game, such as unlocking new battlefields, which will take a large update for the Apple device, it will take several hours to complete, so it makes the game less enjoyable. The aim of the game is more of a run and gun, your only objective is to kill everybody, trust no-one.

You will re-spawn automatically after you get killed, and they are pretty lethal. If you are one of those Call of Duty addicts, this might be the easy practice for you. As you progress through the game, you'll unlock special missions that can be pulled out during your gunning rampage. As well as this, you'll unlock brand new weapons that can be equipped, and this goes well if your up against someone with a machine gun, or if you want to detonate dynamite. However this goes very hard when they move around so damn fast trying to kill you.

When your in hot pursuit of a kill, the reality of reloading your ammo is almost instantaneous. Instead of having to tap a button, it's completely instant so it's easier for you to flee. The Respawnables is a great shooter for some kids, and I love the visual effects when you blow up something. I give The Respawnables:
Score: 7.5/10 Coins.
Price: Free

Now it's time to take a look at: Block Ops
It's time to survive a blocky FPS, that at first sight, looks pretty crap. But as you delve deeper, you'll find that although it looks very grotesque in visual effects, the gameplay is more confusing as ever. I bought this game on the iPhone expecting something good on reviews, but the gameplay is harder to handle. A sniper position is better than The Respawnables, but I found that a bad thing either way. It makes it much harder to kill the other team. But soon I got stuck into the game for you guys, and I actually quite enjoyed it! It's easier when you've got your experience into Block Ops, and although a short review, the gunning was quite awesome, so I give Block Ops:
Score: 6.5/10 Coins
Price: $1.99

Now some sniping gameplay by some dude on YouTube!

What Ever Happened To..........Pac-Man (Atari 2600)
Pac-Man was one of the most highly anticipated arcade games of all time, so they thought they could have more fun playing it at home without paying another cent? WRONG. The Atari's port of Namco's arcade classic was given only a few weeks of development, a major factor that contributed to the US video game marketing crash of 1983. The same happened to E.T The Extra Terrestrial. Many cartridges were refunded and were one of the games that lost Atari $500k.

Review: Book of Spells
Wonderbook: Book of Spells is released content of the Harry Potter series from J.K. Rowling herself, released on the PS3. What sets this game apart is what you do with it. At E3 this year, Playstation revealed a brand new technology, the Wonderbook. This book uses Augmented Reality, which makes the book and the Playstation Move to life. If you have a Pottermore account, you are given the opportunity to link the rightful house you were chosen, and the wand that chose you months ago. I enjoyed waving my wand around, Aguamenti was the most fun.

Infamous witch Miranda Goshawk has left a Book of Spells for young wizards and witches to explore and learn in her five chapter anthology of magic. The narrator voice-over helps you out along the way as your guide, first picking a house and a wand. I linked my Pottermore account to the game, so it automatically transformed my Playstation Move to a Harry Potter wand. How cool is that! My move controller was actually just come out of the big bundle, so it broke the illusion slightly with the cable coming out of my wand. If your a giant Harry Potter fan and you dedicated to learn every spell, you might get through this under 5 hours to complete. It felt a bit short to me, but I think it's because I was having so much fun I broke out of a magical trance. Still though, the new technology works brilliantly, and I can't wait to see how the next game is going to play out. I give Book of Spells:
Score: 9.5/10 Coins
Price: $45 (Wonderbook+Game) or $68 (Wonderbook+Game+Playstation Move)

Game Dictionary for Noobs: Rage Quit
Rage quitting is one of the most common cases in gaming, most arguably in shooters. Rage quit means that a person has no self control over their actions in a video game, such as when they die, they have a gigantic fit. Rage quit comes in all sorts of gaming, whether losing against that last boss over and over again, or dying with valuable items in Minecraft. If your calm, you'll probably only have one rage quit in your life, but if you are angry on an almost regular basis, you might be rage quitting more than you should.

A video of a dude playing The Impossible Game on the Xbox 360 doing a rage quit.
WARNING: If you have a problem with mild language, you have been warned.

Review: Need for Speed Most Wanted (iOS)
Need for Speed is one of the greatest racing car driver game of all time, and as we approach more excellent games on the iOS, we see Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Just like any other port of Need for Speed, it's the same basic goal that you would see, becoming the best driver ever! By the looks of this game, it is essentially the same game you would see on console with minor tweaks. For example, after you finish a race, you are taken straight to the main menu. This is intuitive however, it's better if you stop driving after a race, especially if your still in a police car chase, which happens a lot in the console version.

I love how you have the choice to use the touch screen controls, or using some motion controls by tilting the iOS device back and forth.
The game runs quite smoothly and is looks much better than Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. As my first Need for Speed game, this is one of the best, highly recommend it for the devices. I give Need for Speed: Most Wanted:
Score: 10/10 Coins
Price: $0.99
